RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Exam Preparation
The
RYA/MCA Yachtmaster Offshore qualification is internationally renowned and
universally respected. The RYA ensures that the qualification keeps its
reputation by insisting on a minimum experience level and testing all
candidates with a rigorous examination.
This course is specifically designed to help you pass the
RYA/ DoT Yachtmaster Practical examination. It is not a formal course
within the RYA Cruising Scheme, but one which people find invaluable in
preparing for the examination.
You will need to have good boat handling skills, under
sail and power, and your theory knowledge will need to be to a good
standard. Our experienced instructors will help to strengthen your
techniques, polish your skills, brush up your theory, and gain confidence.
Yachtmaster candidates must have a minimum of 50 days at
sea, 5 days as skipper, 2500 sea miles, 5 passages over 60 miles including
2 as skipper and 2 overnight. This experience must be logged in tidal
waters in the ten year period prior to the assessment.
Candidates for the Yachtmaster Exam must hold a
VHF
SRC Certificate and a valid, First Aid
Certificate. An exam fee of £194 is payable direct to the RYA examiner at
the start of the assessment. Evidence of sailing experience and a recent
passport photograph are also required.
