Safety Boat Training Course

Assumed knowledge: boat handling to level two standard
Course duration: two days (0900 - 1700)
Minimum age: 16*

The safety boat course is suitable for anyone involved in safety or rescue work at sailing clubs or watersports centres. The course includes practical training in recovering all manner of water craft including dinghies, canoes, windsurfers and swimmers from the water. Students should be able to handle a small powerboat to level two standard but no knowledge of other watersports is required. We recommend that students have a valid first aid and VHF radio certificate, though this is not a requirement.

• Dinghy, canoe and windsurfer rescue
• Recovery of personnel from the water

• VHF communication and fleet management
• Safety and rescue procedures

* Under 18s are very welcome on powerboat courses, however 16-17 year olds must have their booking form countersigned by a parent or guardian.
