Advanced Training - Day and Night Course

Assumed knowledge: knowledge to intermediate and day skipper shorebased standard
Course duration: two days and one evening
Minimum age: 17*call for exceptions

The advanced course is for experienced powerboaters. Students should be familiar with powerboat handling to intermediate standard and have several seasons' Powerboating experience. A knowledge of navigation to Day Skipper Shorebased standard is required, and students must hold a valid first aid certificate and VHF radio operator's certificate. The course includes techniques for handling powerboats under challenging conditions such as heavy weather, and offshore at night. An outline syllabus is shown below.

• Collision regulations and meteorology
• Emergency and rescue procedures

The course runs on the Ipswich, Suffolk, Essex borders.  Under 18s are very welcome on powerboat courses, however 16-17 year olds must have their booking form countersigned by a parent or guardian.
