To Britannia Sailing (East Coast)

We are  very proud of our East Anglian location on the Essex, Suffolk border near Ipswich  which offers direct access to the open sea.  Our fleet of yachts are based at Shotley Marina near Ipswich, ideally situated at the confluence of the rivers Orwell and Stour,  less than a mile from the open sea. Our location is ideal for sheltered cruising in the Suffolk and Essex rivers and we are equally well placed for longer passages across the North Sea. The marina has full facilities including toilets and showers, a chandlery, restaurant and bar. There is always  ample secure car parking.

By rail - The nearest train station is at Ipswich where a limited bus service is available to the Bristol Arms which is a five-minute walk from the marina. Please ask if you would like to be sent a timetable.

By road from London and the South - Follow the A12 through Essex towards Ipswich until you join the A14. Take the turning heading East towards Felixstowe. Leave the A14 at the next junction signed to that A137 and Ipswich Central.

By road from the Midlands and the West - Take the A14 heading East towards Felixstowe. Leave the A14 at the junction signed to the A137 and Ipswich Central.

From the A14 / A137 junction - At the top of the slip road turn left and down the hill. At the next roundabout turn right onto the B1456 to Shotley. Continue in this road for several miles until you come to the riverside and it appears that the road stops. Approach the Bristol Arms pub and turn left following the sea wall into the marina. Keep the large building on your right. The Britannia Sailing office is the last office in the main building on the right. Please report to the office on arrival at the marina.

We welcome personal callers at the office, the kettle is always on! However, we are often away from the office so please call first and we will arrange for one of our team to be available to chat with you.
