RYA Small Craft First Aid Training Course

The one day RYA Small Craft First Aid course is specially designed to cover the medical problems that may be encountered at sea, in addition to basic First Aid. The syllabus includes resuscitation, treatment of burns and scalds as well as broken bones and other injuries. The course also includes training in the use of category C drugs that are carried aboard many yachts, including commercial vessels.

A First Aid certificate is a prerequisite for anyone considering taking the RYA Coastal Skipper or Yachtmaster practical assessments, and is useful reassurance for anyone who goes to sea either as Skipper or Crew. There is no formal assessment during the course, students will be awarded the RYA Small Craft First Aid Certificate which is valid for three years from the date of issue.
