RYA Day Skipper Practical Training
The
Day Skipper Practical course trains you to be able to skipper a small
yacht in familiar waters by day. Ideally, you will have completed your Day
Skipper Theory course, and have some limited practical experience.
However, if you already have some sailing and navigation experience, you
may be able to take Day Skipper as your first practical course.
The course will lay emphasis on handling the boat under
sail and power, so that on completion you will be confident to skipper a
small boat. You will live on board the yacht during the course, and there
will be some night sailing included. You will visit many harbours, marinas
and anchorages both in the local area and further afield.
The Day Skipper Practical qualification will enable you to
charter boats, and qualifies you for the International Certificate of
Competence.
